orn in the city of the well-known humanist and philosopher Pico della Mirandola, located in the northern part of Modena’s province, the biomedical district is currently leader in the European market in the production of disposables and components for dialysis. Mirandola’s Biomedical District includes over 100 companies specialized in disposable plastic and electro-medical products: they are mostly Italian SMEs (85,6%) but there are also several multinationals (14,4%), both foreign (60%) and Italian (40%), which employ about 5,000 people and generate a turnover of almost 1 billion euros (including related industries).
Sidam was founded in January 1991 in the heart of the Mirandola district by Graziano Azzolini, an expert in the field, who understands the need, for international hospitals of excellence, of having disposable medical devices, i.e., innovative and truly usable products. Today Sidam is a company that covers all production phases, from R&D to after-sales activities. It currently works with 19 countries around the world and the thrust of exports is still the engine of growth.

He has been working in the biomedical field since 1967 taking up different roles, from technical to management positions. He founded Sidam in 1991 thanks to a business intuition, resulting from the collaboration with a well-known chief interventional radiologist, and Graziano and his wife’s capacity to shape the needs of an international centre of excellence.

Emotec – founded in 1983 in Mirandola by Francesco Schittini, it produces highly specialized medical disposables. In 2003 it received from AIFA the authorization as pharmaceutical workshop, diversifying thus its original core business and establishing relationships of trust and reability with remarkable pharmaceutical companies. Its strengths are a quick and flexible service and attention to quality. In november 2021 it became part of Sidam group.

L’interesse per la ricerca e il lavoro nelle imprese a elevato contenuto d’innovazione hanno connotato il suo percorso professionale, iniziato in una multinazionale della diagnostica in vitro e proseguito ricoprendo incarichi in società di ricerca pubbliche e private.
